My Digital Portfolio.

Enclosed here is a just a fraction of my work over the past five years of education. Some images are from my sketchbook and some are resolved pieces of work from various projects spanning through GCSE, AS, A2 and Foundation. Some images are illustrations made for books and some are from my personal sketchbook. The images were chosen to demonstrate a broad approach to my work, to display various mediums of working and some were chosen simply for their illustrative style. I am attracted to illustration because of the possibilities available when thinking about ideas and concepts visually. Animation also seems like a fantastic means of creativity and I am drawn to the narrative aspect of both subjects. I am extremely keen to develop and broaden my style and way of thinking, to reach and experience new ways of creating in these fields. The possibilities of illustration and animation seem endless to me and I very much wish to become a part of this creative world.

Thank you for your consideration and I hope to be hearing from you soon.

Zeus the IT Girl. 2010.

Part of the 'Obsessive Documentation' Project on the Foundation course. An ironic piece of collage on the study of Zeus, my chosen thing to doument.

Stalins Victims. 2009.

This is an A2 sized page from my sketchbook. When looking at the theme of lost identity, I copied mug-shot photographs of just a fraction of the thousands killed by Joseph Stalin's regieme. I put them all together to create this sort of ensemble piece of dramatic illustration.

The King and the Corpse. 2008.

An illustration designed for the front cover of a book of Indian folk tales. This particular image was drawn for the main story, about a corpse that comes to life and befriends a King.

Self Portait. 2008.

Self Portrait to introduce the A2 exam sketchbook on the theme 'discord'.

Dancing With Confusion. 2009.

This is a drawing in ink and pastel, inspired by the film Waking Life by Richard Linklater, all about the power and significance of dreams.

GCSE Final Piece. 2007.

GCSE Final Piece. 2007. This sculpture was compiled out of many small objects from my bedroom in an attempt to become a sort of 3-D collage. I used a helmet as a base and attatched the objects using chicken wire to make the head. It was orignally inspired by Basquiat's painting 'Untitled (Head)'.

Jean Dominique Bauby. 2009

Page from A2 sketchbook. This is a portrait of Jean Dominique Bauby, the french journalist turned writer, who served as a huge inspiration for my final A2 project, the theme being the human psyche and consciousness. Inks and acrylics.

Paul. 2008.

Drawing in pen and ink of a friend. Given the task to draw someone in 5 minutes only with as many different pens as possible, this was the outcome. Foundation project.

Visual Research, Zeus. 2009.

Drawing from my Foundation year 'Visual Research' Book. In this book, students would record lectures, themes, artists and trips, making notes and recording images. Here is my own interpretation of the Greek god Zeus.

Foundation 'Ephemeral' Project. 2010.

These are a few pages from my Foundation year project, the theme being 'Ephemeral'. As this project was self-directed, we had to come up with our own ideas and concept. I decided I was to record the news of the world for one whole week, by writing down reports and photographing the BBC 6 O'Clock news, then making collages in this booklet.

Two Female Giraffes. 2008.

Illustration from A2 sketchbook where I was looking at the theme of 'Anthropomorphism'.

Final Piece. A2 Exam. 2009.

Final Piece for A2 project 'Discord'. I wanted to explore the theme of identity in a piece which fuses elements of concept/contemporary fine art and simple cartooning. Spraypaint, ink and emulsion on wood.

Miles. 2009.

This is a print of a photograph of Miles Davis By Anton Corbijn. It was printed on a open book and was altered with felt tip.

Boy on Elephant. 2009.

An illustration for a book of Indian tales. It was also used for marketing purposes for a show at The Tobacco Factory in Bristol. Drawn in ink and pastel.

Final Piece. AS Exam. 2008.

This was my final piece for my AS exam in 2008. It was selected to be shown on the Royal Academy website for the A-Level Online Exhibition. Here it is, hung in a local gallery in Cardiff bay. Made from scrap wood, canvas and a badminton racket.

Study of Naked Lunch. 2009.

Page from A2 Exam sketchbook. For this project, the theme was 'Discord'. I decided to look closely at literature and this page is a study/testament of William Burroughs novel Naked Lunch.

Lonely Beef. 2009.

Picture from personal sketchbook. From a story about a family of different meats. Collage, pastels and ink.

Fearsome Giant. 2008.

This is an illustration designed for a front cover of short childrens stories. This particular story was about a man confronting fear in the form of a giant who had taken control of a small town. Drawn in ink, biro and charcole.
